The relocation of Memorial Day services to Abbot Hall Monday marked a first in Dave Rodgers’ 17-years as Marblehead veterans agent.
“It’s the first rainy day for Memorial Day that I can remember,” said Joe Whipple as he climbed up Abbot Hall’s grand staircase into the auditorium just before the 10 a.m. service.
“Thank you for coming. I know we prefer to be outside, but this is a great turnout,” said Rodgers to the sea of ‘Headers gathered for the annual event.

U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton, a war veteran, will be among the speakers Wednesday at a ceremonial ribbon cutting signaling the debut of Gloucester's new Veterans Administration health care clinic at 199 Main St. The ceremony, set for 1 p.m., will include remarks by Gloucester Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken and by Bedford VA Director Christine Croteau.
Moulton, the first-term representative whose 6th Massachusetts congressional district includes all of Cape Ann, served four tours in the Iraq War as a Marine Corps infantry officer.

It may seem trite to quote a heavy metal rock song from the 1990s, when opening a discussion about the future of Lynn, but the fact is that the ‘Winds of Change’ have started blowing pretty steadily here and it seems with the recent sale of the former Beacon Chevrolet site on the Lynnway those winds are now picking up as well.
A bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus, in which Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) joined on April 22, seeks to install a national carbon tax. A Spring 2016 Yale poll concluded that 86% of Democratic voters and 47% of Republican voters would support this tax.
