Internship Application

Complete and submit this form to apply to serve as an intern or fellow in Congressman Moulton's Washington, D.C. office or his district office in Salem, Massachusetts.

The application deadlines for each internship class are as follows:

  • Spring deadline - November 10 at 11:59pm
  • Summer deadline - March 10 at 11:59pm
  • Fall deadline - July 10 at 11:59pm

GENERAL STUDENT INTERNSHIPS

Congressman Moulton offers internships through his Salem office and Washington D.C. office in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

Internships are intended for current undergraduate students, current graduate students, and recent college graduates. Under very rare circumstances the office will also host high school students. High school students are encouraged to apply for Congressional Youth Council instead.

Interns receive a stipend distributed based on total hours worked.

D.C. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answering constituent phone calls and greeting constituents at the front desk.
  • Categorizing and responding to constituent mail.
  • Drafting form letters and cosponsor requests for the Congressman.
  • Taking notes at briefings and hearings.
  • Conducting tours of the Capitol for constituents.
  • Assembling press and news clips.
  • Performing a variety of other duties as assigned, such as conducting legislative research.

DISTRICT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answering constituent phone calls and greeting constituents at the front desk.
  • Assisting the Casework Team on a variety of casework requests involving federal agencies.
  • Taking notes at briefings and hearings.
  • Assembling press and news clips.
  • Performing a variety of other duties as assigned, such as conducting legislative research and attending community events.

FERN HOLLAND INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS FELLOWSHIP

In addition to hiring a class of three to five interns, we offer a full-time, paid foreign policy fellowship in our Washington, D.C. office. This opportunity is only open to candidates who are currently Pell Grant-eligible or who were Pell Grant-eligible while pursuing their bachelor's degree. Current undergraduate students, current graduate students, and recent college graduates are welcome to apply, though preference is given to graduate students. The fellow will work on assignments on foreign policy and national security, in addition to some regularly assigned intern responsibilities.

The application deadline for the Fern Holland International Affairs Fellowship is March 17, 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducting legislative research.
  • Taking notes at briefings and hearings.
  • Organizing research from Members of Congress and outside organizations.
  • Writing briefings for the Congressman.
  • Drafting questions for House Armed Services Committee and Select Committee on China hearings.
