BEVERLY — Earning Congressman Seth Moulton's first Peter J. Gomes Service Award came as a surprise to Andrew DeFranza, executive director for Harborlight Community Partners.

There were six finalists narrowed down from a nominee pool of 30. But DeFranza's work with Harborlight to provide housing to those most in need throughout the North Shore stood out.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) has laid out a four-point plan to counter the Islamic State in Iraq that he said addresses a major flaw in the Obama administration’s strategy — a move stoking speculation about the first-term Democrat’s future political plans for higher office.

“Even though he’s only in his first congressional term, Congressman Moulton has already emerged as a leading voice on Iraq policy on Capitol Hill,” said Nancy Lindborg, president of the U.S. Institute of Peace, where Moulton spoke yesterday.

Today, Congressmen Seth Moulton (D-MA) and Ryan Zinke (R-MT) introduced bipartisan legislation to authorize a national memorial dedicated to those who have fought in the Global War on Terror (GWOT) following the September 11th terrorist attacks. This week marks the 15-year anniversary of the attack and thus the beginning of the war. Under current law, Congress would have to wait ten years after a war is over to create a memorial.
