Washington, D.C.  – Today, Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA) introduced his first package of legislation: The VA Education Training and Sustainability (VETS) Act, four bills aimed at improving the talent pipeline at Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facilities across the country. VETS focuses on four specific initiatives: recruiting new talent, investing in existing employees, retaining staff and improving oversight of employee incentive and training programs.

WASHINGTON – Seth Moulton had earned two medals in Iraq for his valor. He’d witnessed brutal combat in four tours with the Marines. But none of that mattered when he showed up at the Veterans Health Administration hospital in Washington, D.C., where staff could not find records.

“We’ll consider taking you as a humanitarian case,” a hospital staffer told Moulton, unaware that the would-be hernia patient was also a newly elected Massachusetts congressman.

U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton had a busy — and fruitful — week on the fishing front in the U.S. House of Representatives.

On Thursday, the freshman Democrat from the Massachusetts 6th Congressional District announced he and two other New England representatives secured an appropriations commitment to allow NOAA to continue paying for observer coverage on commercial fishing boats, including those in the Northeast multispecies groundfish fishery.

Washington, DC – Today, an amendment to reform the use of monies in the Asset Forfeiture Fund (AFF), which was submitted by Massachusetts Reps. Bill Keating (MA-09), Stephen Lynch (MA-08), and Seth Moulton (MA-06), passed the US House of Representatives.  The amendment is now included in H.R. 1335, the Strengthening Fishing Communities and Increasing Flexibility in Fisheries Management Act.

The following piece appeared in the Salem Daily News on May 24th.

Every time I returned to Iraq, it was worse than when I had last left, yet I was proud to serve four tours as a Marine because I never wanted anyone to go in my place. That doesn’t make me a hero; it just makes me a typical American veteran. I served with some of the best Americans I will ever meet: men and women who willingly and selflessly put their lives on the line for a better Iraq and a safer America.

Washington, D.C. - Today, in a letter to the Government Accountability Office (GAO), Congressman Seth Moulton called for an independent investigation into the Veterans Affairs's (VA) opioid prescription and pain management practices.  Three House and Senate members, including Massachusetts Senator Edward Markey, joined Moulton in sending the letter to the GAO.
