Representative Seth Moulton (D-MA) announced that Lynn Economic Opportunity, (LEO) Inc. has been awarded a $4.34 million federal grant for its Head Start program.

“All are created equal is our American creed. Equal opportunity is our nation’s promise. Yet, too often, your chances of success are dictated by your zip code and how much your parents make. It is on all of us to create opportunities where they don’t exist. Head Start does that, and I’m proud to announce these funds are coming to Lynn,” Rep. Seth Moulton said.

Twenty-two years ago, David Williams was biking down a Salem, Mass., street when he caught a glimpse of the woman who would become the love of his life.

He could tell she was petite, but he wasn’t able to make out her features as she turned to catch a train. Williams spun his bicycle around and headed up the street. He saw Vitalina’s face and let out a whistle.

“She was just beautiful,” David Williams remembered.

SALEM — The COVID-19 pandemic has cast a shadow across Memorial Day, said Marine Corps veteran and Salem Veterans Council member Joseph Cole and other speakers at a small ceremony held under gray skies in Greenlawn Cemetery Monday morning.

Cole, who acted as the emcee, noted how the aging, elderly veteran population has been ravaged by the pandemic during a year which marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. The outbreak continues to affect veterans' nursing homes across the country and in the Bay State, and many older veterans remain at home or in lockdown.

Since the NBA season was abruptly suspended in March due to the novel coronavirus, Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter has used his time to battle what he describes as human rights abuses in his native country, Turkey.

Kanter has launched a campaign called "You Are My Hope" on Change.Org to advocate for political prisoners in his homeland.

NBC10 Boston and NECN reporter Joy Lim Nakrin caught up with Kanter to discuss the efforts.

Seth Moulton, the U.S. Representative for Massachusetts’s 6th congressional district, has released a proposal for investing $240 billion in a nationwide high-speed rail network. The plan would create an estimated 2.6 million jobs over the span of five years and “let the free market thrive in transportation as it does elsewhere in the American economy, [giving] a new generation of Americans, competing in a new world, the options and efficiencies we demand.”
