NEWBURYPORT — If Rockport can have its Motif No. 1 from which artists draw inspiration, perhaps Newburyport can develop Motif No. 2 — the Pink House.

A spirited group of artists, nostalgia buffs and political figures gathered Wednesday night to further organize efforts to save a pink residence on Plum Island Turnpike from destruction.

What’s known as the Pink House was built in 1922 and stands on three parcels totaling 9.2 acres.

Europe wants us to keep our lobsters to ourselves.

Earlier this month, the European Union’s Scientific Forum moved forward with a proposal by Sweden to ban live American lobster imports, by declaring the crustacean an invasive species.

But like a lobster roll left out too long in the sun, that decision did not sit well with local lawmakers.

Almost every senator and representative from Massachusetts voted to override the president’s veto on the Sept. 11 bill today — save for two.

The bill, which Congress passed in an override to President Barack Obama’s veto, would allow families of Sept. 11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia for its alleged backing of the attackers. Obama and top national security officials warned that flaws in the bill could put US interests, troops, and intelligence personnel at risk.

BOSTON — Rep. Seth Moulton thinks marijuana should be legalized and regulated in Massachusetts, arguing that the state could get a much-needed windfall in tax revenue while driving down black-market pot sales.

Moulton, who acknowledges trying pot as a student at Harvard College in the 1990s, said opponents have “legitimate concerns” about people driving under the influence of marijuana and kids using the drug. Regulation, he said, is the way to address those concerns.
