NEWBURY — U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton joined state and local officials in putting out a call to protect the Plum Island shoreline Monday afternoon.

Marc Sarkady, the president of the Plum Island Foundation, said last week the federal fiscal 2021 budget includes $19 million for dredging sand from the Merrimack and Piscataqua rivers, with some of that sand used to stem erosion along the Reservation Terrace beach.

An additional $250,000 to $350,000 will have to be raised from sources other than the federal government to haul the sand before the dredging project can get underway.

Massachusetts Democrat Rep. Seth Moulton is calling on his fellow U.S. Representatives to impeach President Donald Trump if Vice President Mike Pence and the cabinent refuse to remove him from office. This comes after the insurrection of the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. by pro-Trump extremists on Wednesday. 

Moulton told Boston Public Radio on Friday that he feels many Republican lawmakers lack the courage to do what they know is right.

Larry Smith still feels pain from the moment a military training exercise went wrong.

“I landed on the back of my head and my neck and I landed back here. I found out the human body actually bounces. I came down headfirst and I wasn’t able to get my hands down because of the way I came off the obstacle,” says Smith. “I couldn’t feel my feet, couldn’t feel anything.”

Despite injuries like whiplash and a concussion, he still traveled overseas with his Air Force Unit, serving a year in the Persian Gulf War.

BEVERLY — Congressman Seth Moulton's office and state and local officials on Monday expressed concern about the ongoing contamination at the former Varian site on Sohier Road and vowed to hold the company accountable for its cleanup.

A spokesman for Moulton said his office contacted the federal Environmental Protection Agency after The Salem News reported on Monday that levels of potentially toxic chemicals remain high despite a cleanup that has been going on for 28 years.

American flag in hand, Debbie Weinstein walked slowly across the lush grass Tuesday at Baker Street Memorial Park in West Roxbury.

The Lakeville woman bent toward the ground, placed the flag beside a flat grave marker, and rose to honor Daniel Weinstein, her father-in-law, an Army private in World War II who died in 2008 at the age of 87. Across this sprawling Jewish cemetery at the edge of Boston, Weinstein and the caretakers who work there appeared to be all alone.

SALEM — After cruising to an easy re-election win Tuesday night, U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton chose to focus his remarks during a late Wednesday morning press conference on the importance of counting every vote in a tight presidential race.

Moulton, a Democrat from Salem, will represent the 6th Congressional District for another two years after defeating John Paul Moran by a 30-point margin.

Local and national suicide prevention advocates are praising a new federal law that designates 9-8-8 the national phone number for mental health emergencies, saying it will provide a critical resource that could help save lives.

The National Suicide Hotline Designation Act, introduced by Representative Seth Moulton, a Salem Democrat, calls for the three-digit number to be implemented nationwide by July 2022.
