Moulton Statement on U.S. Strikes Against Iranian Targets in Iraq and Syria

Congressman Moulton made the following statement after the U.S. launched 85 airstrikes at Iranian targets in Iraq and Syria in response to Iranian-backed attacks in northeastern Jordan that killed three U.S. service members last week.

It is good to see President Biden taking decisive action against Iranian-backed militias. So far this looks smart and strategic.

Republican critics who are already calling these strikes insufficient without even seeing damage assessments are playing politics with war. Grow up, and remember that the Trump administration never directly targeted Iran. The drone strike that killed General Qasim Soleimani was conducted in Iraq.

I fought Iranian proxy groups in Iraq 20 years ago. They killed hundreds of U.S. soldiers during the war. This is not a new problem, nor is it one for which any president, Democrat or Republican, has yet to find a good solution.
