Moulton Statement on Harvard President's Congressional Testimony on Campus Antisemitism
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Moulton made the following statement in reaction to a post by the President of Harvard University following her congressional testimony this week.
Harvard's post on X read: "There are some who have confused a right to free expression with the idea that Harvard will condone calls for violence against Jewish students. Let me be clear: Calls for violence or genocide against the Jewish community, or any religious or ethnic group are vile, they have no place at Harvard, and those who threaten our Jewish students will be held to account."
Moulton statement:
"Moral leadership rarely comes in the form of defensive explanations. People are “confused” because you refused to unequivocally state that advocating genocide has no place in the Harvard community.
It’s for situations like this that a code of conduct should exist. Wouldn’t it have been powerful to see university leaders join together in committing to combat the shocking rise of antisemitism in America, rather than uniting to avoid answering a simple question."
