Moulton, Ryan, 10 Other Democratic Veteran Members Criticize Lack Of Strategy By Trump Administration In Venezuela, Need To Avoid Endless War
WASHINGTON, D.C. — This afternoon, Congressman Seth Moulton (MA-06), along with Reps. Pat Ryan (NY-18), Mike Thompson (CA-04), Ted Lieu (CA-33), Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06), Chris Deluzio (PA-17), Eugene Vindman (VA-07), Maggie Goodlander (NH-02), Derek Tran (CA-45), Gil Cisneros (CA-31), Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), and Jason Crow (CO-06) held a press conference regarding the illegal military operations in Venezuela and how Congress can assert its authority to decide if and when the United States goes to war.
The members spoke together in unified opposition to unilateral military action conducted without a clear strategy or congressional approval. The group, composed of veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, warned that the administration’s recent actions risk repeating the mistakes of the past two decades.
Congressman Moulton, a Marine Corps veteran who served four tours in Iraq, warned that we cannot afford to stumble into another unconstitutional and endless war.
“But we as members of congress, and American people should not be lied to by any administration. And we should all ask the question about where our tax dollars and where American lives may be spent or wasted next.”
