Demanding Accountability from ICE and DHS

Dear Friends,

I’m furious and heartbroken over ICE’s shooting of a US citizen in Minneapolis.

Accountability isn’t optional. No one is above the law. Not ICE, not any federal agent, not anyone with a badge and a mandate.

In December, I introduced the NOEM Act — to make sure ICE officers can be prosecuted when they break the law. Because federal power doesn’t come with a free pass, and abusing it should carry real consequences.

We’re pushing hard for more oversight in the wake of this tragedy. And, I will fight to restrict ICE funding in the upcoming debate surrounding the Department of Homeland Security budget.

The Trump administration’s mass deportation strategy doesn’t just fail our values — it actively makes our communities less safe. It spreads fear and chaos, undermines trust in law enforcement, and puts everyone at greater risk — even ICE agents themselves.

Renee should be here today. And we won’t stop until there's justice — for her and for every community ICE has put in danger.
