Congressman Moulton Participates in Meeting Between Taiwan’s President and Bipartisan Congressional Delegation
Simi Valley, CA — Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA) participated in a bipartisan meeting with Taiwan’s president Tsai Ing-wen as she transited through California on her way back to Taiwan. Moulton attended in his capacity as a member of the new House Select Committee on China. Last fall, Moulton visited Taiwan, Guam, and the Philippines as part of another bipartisan congressional delegation.
Moulton issued the following statement about today’s transit:
“It was an honor to meet with President Tsai Ing-wen for the second time.
Taiwan is a key partner to the United States. We remain steadfast in our shared democratic values and our commitment to a stable and peaceful Taiwan Strait and Indo-Pacific region.
Last fall, I had the opportunity to visit President Tsai, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, National Security Council Secretary-General Wellington Kooin, and lawmakers in Taiwan as part of a bipartisan congressional delegation. There we exchanged views on a wide range of issues.
Today’s meeting was another important opportunity to continue our dialogue about economic and security cooperation. The bipartisan nature of these discussions shows that the United States Congress remains united in its strong support of Taiwan.
I wish President Tsai a safe trip home and thank her for the productive discussion.”
