Congressman Moulton Outlines his Transportation Vision for Massachusetts in New Memo
Congressman Seth Moulton has released a new three-page memo outlining his vision for the MBTA’s next chapter.
The full PDF can be found HERE.
In the introduction, Congressman Moulton writes: ”As the MBTA starts a new chapter, we must prioritize the right projects and sequence them correctly to dramatically change the speed and options for moving around the Commonwealth. This means solidifying a vision for the future rooted in the real economic needs and aspirations of the region.”
Congressman Moulton argues that the T must first resolve its staffing issues. From greeters to conductors, people are at the core of everything the MBTA does. The MBTA also cannot continue to restrict speeds and forgo long overdue, basic maintenance and track work, especially while many of its peers operate larger systems with no speed restrictions at all.
The memo outlines three priority capital projects, with actions that should be taken.

Transform Commuter Rail into a Regional Rail System
Congressman Moulton sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He has long been a vocal advocate for improved public transportation systems in Massachusetts, specifically commuter and regional rail. In a recent op-ed, Moulton argued for more equity in how the state and federal governments invest in rail transit.
He is also one of the country’s top proponents of national high-speed rail infrastructure.
