In a push for gun reform, Sixth District Congressman Seth Moulton, D-Salem, started to read aloud the names of victims involved in mass shootings just in 2016 on the well of the House floor in the nation's Capitol Thursday morning.

Fellow congressmen came forward with pictures of shooting victims as Moulton, a four-tour Iraq War Marien Corps infantry officer veteran, read out loud the names and ages of the victims.

However, as he got to the name Josh Higbee, 31, one of three people killed in a two-town mass shooting in Kansas in February, it was announced that the "gentleman's time has expired." Moulton was gaveled out of order by Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Florida, who called for a recess of the House until noon.

As the live stream feed from CSPAN cut off, it appeared that Moulton continued to read the names aloud, and members of Congress continued to come forward with pictures of shooting victims. It was an echo to a sit-in led by House Democrats in June.

Moulton, a Marblehead native, told members that guns saved his life "every single day" while serving in Iraq. And he noted he did not want to take guns away from law-abiding Americans. He said his goal was to make sure that terrorists, criminals, domestic abusers and criminals do not get their hands on guns.

"All we need to accomplish are two, simple, common sense things," Moulton said. "Background checks for all sales of guns with no loopholes that criminals and terrorists can exploit. And second, if you are too dangerous to flu, you are too dangerous to buy."\
