Moulton Statement on MBTA Orange Line Shutdown

SALEM, Mass.–Today, Congressman Seth Moulton gave the following statement in response to the announcement that the MBTA’s Orange Line will be closed for repairs from August 18-September 18:

"Sadly, the Orange line shutdown is necessary, but it never should have come to this. The Greater Boston Region is a world-class hub for education, healthcare, innovation, history, and tourism — yet our under-resourced, outdated transit systems do not even come close to reflecting that status. Simply taking the MBTA to work should not be a gamble. 

I hope this monthlong shutdown will allow the MBTA to make improvements — and quickly. We need many years’ worth of maintenance backlog solved in about 30 days.”
