Moulton Statement on the Firing of National Security Advisor John Bolton

WASHINGTON – Today, following the president’s announcement that he fired National Security Advisor John Bolton, Representative Seth Moulton (D-MA) made the following statement:

“No one trusts a leader who can’t decide who his enemies are. Burning through three national security advisors in two years, all of whom have fundamentally different views, shows the president doesn’t have a clue about national security.

Every day, President Trump makes the world less safe and Americans less secure. When our Commander in Chief is impulsive and irresponsible, it sends a message to the members of the armed forces: that he will recklessly risk their lives and safety when it serves his self-interest. Just look at this week’s dizzying cycle of headlines coming out of Scotland, Camp David, and now the president’s Twitter feed.

Congress must provide a steady hand and challenge the president where he’s the weakest: on national security.”
