Rep. Moulton to Hold Press Conference on the Impact of Medicaid Cuts on Local Nursing Homes
Salem, Mass. – Rep. Seth Moulton will hold a press conference on the impacts of President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” on local nursing home residents and providers. The presser will be held at Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody (22 Johnson St) at approximately 2:30 PM.
Rep. Moulton will be joined by Rosewood’s Executive Director and Medical Director. Additional participants will be finalized on Wednesday.
Prior to the press conference, Rep. Moulton will meet with Rosewood Nursing Home’s leadership to discuss the impacts of the Medicaid cuts dictated by the budget recently signed into law by President Trump.
Also on Thursday: Rep. Moulton will hold a press event in Salem to celebrate the passage of Salem Maritime National Historical Park Redesignation and Boundary Study Act into law. He will also speak at Beverly’s Senior Day in the Park, and on Thursday evening, he will speak at Nahant’s Purple Heart Community Celebration.

Medicaid is the largest payer of nursing home care costs in the U.S., covering most of the nursing home bill for more than 6 in 10 residents, and 1.2 million Americans are nursing home residents. The cuts to Medicaid dictated by Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” will exacerbate problems that already exist with respect to understaffed facilities, medical debts, and reduced long-term care coverage.
